Dedicated to Maci Killian.
Pegasae
***
Another day reveals yet another
Opportunity to diverge away
From sharp, shattered glass edges, where we play.
Still, the thrill of pain fills life with color.
Smoke rippled tenderly from the cover
Of far and foreign lights. Friends as we lay,
Beneath neon waves from twilight displays.
Youth will burn away, so we burn together.
Adventures await beyond the unknown
Letters of street-signs, and rail-lines to trek
As far as our souls are willing. As friends
With hands bound to a degenerate’s throne.
Please, return with me to the Argo’s wreck,
To speak of lonesome days, to share the end.
